November 27, 2010

Dane and I got engaged on November 27, 2010 after almost 4 years together.

We had been up at his mom's all weekend visiting for Thanksgiving and on Saturday, decided to come home to go to my Thanksgiving. It was a beautiful, sunny day so Dane wanted to go out to Minnith to visit his uncle on the RZR...nothing unusual. We rode out there and after only visitng for a short time, Dane was asking me if I was ready to go. I should have known something was up then, because those of you that know Dane really well, know he is never on a schedule :) He blamed it on the sun going down and getting cold out for the ride home...I didn't think anything of it. Dane had packed me his winter coat, some gloves, and his coveralls so I bundled up on the way home and he kept making sure I was staying warm...again, I should have known something was up :)

So we finally get to Weingarten and we pass his dad's house up...I asked him why and he mumbled something I couldn't understand. We pull onto the Flieg Farm and he says something about fixing something under the RZR. He pulls into this look-out spot that overlooks the entire farm and is messing with something under the RZR...or so I think...

I'm getting unbuckled and getting ready to get out of my seat when he gets my attention. I look over and he is down on one knee with a ring in his hand. I immediately run over and he asks me to marry him. All I could say was, "nuh uhhh" and "are you serious?!?!" Over and over. I finally mustered up a "YES!"

Can you believe he had the ring in his pocket the entire ride?!?!

I couldn't wait to get back to tell everyone! Dane had asked Dad's permission right before leaving for the ride, and by the time we got home from the ride, Dad had already called me.  I tried to act like nothing had happened once I called mom and dad, but I was so excited! We called just about everyone we knew and then went in to town to show mom and dad and everyone at Grandma's having Thanksgiving. The proposal was perfect and so "us!"

These pictures of Dane and I are us celebrating that evening and the only pictures I have of the proposal.
